Morocco has long been popular with tourists hoping to experience a bit of exotic African culture without venturing too far from the picturesque Mediterranean on which Morocco lies. Situated south of Spain and Gibraltar, Morocco is a country brimming with Roman, Islamic, Spanish and French influences and it's large towns, such as Rabat, Casablanca (Dar-el-Beida), Fez and Marrakech, are packed with art, architecture and cuisine which reflects this multicultural attitude. There is much to see and do in Morocco, including visiting the Hassan Tower and Chellah Necropolis in Rabat; and the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian Tombs, the Bab Agnaou Gate, and the El Badi, Royal and Bahia Palaces in Marrakech. Casablanca is of course the setting for the famous movie by the same name, and is also home to the Mosque Hassan II and the Shrine of Sidi Abderrahman. The Moroccan capital, Rabat, and the largest city, Casablanca, are connected by the A3 motorway that runs along the Atlantic coast. Marrakech, south of Casablanca, is reachable on the N9, whilst Fes is easy to get to from Rabat on the A2. Tangier, the northern ferry-port close to Spain, is connected with Rabat by the A1.
There are several large airports in Morocco, including the Mohammed V International in Casablanca, the Menara International in Marrakech, and the Saiss Airport in Fez. Mohammed V International is the largest, seeing close to six million passengers each year, and is visited by Easy Jet, Royal Air Maroc, Air France and Jet4You amongst others. There are several car hire companies based within the airport and around Morocco, including Avis, Budget, Europcar, Citer, Hertz, Thrifty and Sixt.
